We were at Bt Timah Nature Reserve and manage to catch some “monkey business”!! Aren’t they cute? That’s why…people like to feed them. WHICH IS BAD!! =(

To be accurate, they are called Long-tailed Macaque. Feeding of monkeys caused many problems, which ultimately brings more harm to these monkeys.

When we feed them, they become more dependent on us. Monkeys used to feeding can become aggressive. They’ll snatch food from human and raid homes in search for food. 

Also, monkeys help to disperse seeds after they feed on fruits in the forest. So when monkeys don’t feed on fruits, seeds will not be dispersed, therefore young trees won’t replace the dying old trees.

So, bottom line is - IF YOU CARE FOR THEM, PROTECT THEM BY NOT FEEDING THEM!=)
